You may hear radio ads stating that you can donate your car and you can get a tax donation right? right. But what you don’t hear nor what they tell you is the down side of this process that can only cause you frustration and headaches.
When I called up the local service in my area which we’ll leave nameless first of all answered the phone in a rather rude tone. Secondly, the fact that they said to just drop the car off up at their site in Cleveland and wait for a phone call and that when it came to a price I would just have to wait to see what the car sold for and then I would be TOLD what I would get for it. I know I might be naive about all of this but the way theymake it seem is that you show or tell them what you got they look it up on a chart that would somehow fairly tell them roughly what it might be worth whether through kbb or wherever and then they’d cut you a check/ tax credit for that amount. Apparently I was wrong dead wrong. This also means that they could have your car forever until it sold.
The car I was getting rid of I wasn’t in that big of a hurry but I didn’t like the fact that I had to drop off the car both sets of keys AND THE TITLE! to a place out in BFE and wait for them to call and tell me how much they decided they wanted to sell it to a friend of theirs or whomever.
I know this might just be me but I wouldn’t donate my car for nothing! There’s always demo derbys going on get a few spray cans and a case of beer and have a blast one day during the summer and smash the hell outta stuff. I’m the ACF and I’m out!

Great post. I too have heard these commercials and even seen brochures for these services and they make them appear so attractive. Like most things in life they are not what they appear. Thanks for the head’s up.
